Abstract

Fagraea fragrans is a plant commonly found in Sumatera island. Several studies reported that F. fragrans has various pharmacological activities indicating the presence of active compounds in this plant, such as phenolics dan flavonoids. Hence, This study aims to estimate the total phenolic and flavonoid content, determine the antioxidant activity, and identify the compounds with LC-MS. The research was started by macerating F. fragrans fruits using methanol, followed by fractionation using n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The total phenolic content of the ethyl acetate fraction was then determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, the total flavonoid content was determined using AlCl3, and antioxidant activity assay was carried out using DPPH. The ethyl acetate fraction was then analyzed using LC-MS. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of F. fragrans fruits has a total phenolic content of 29.34764 mgGAE/g extract, and a total flavonoid content of 4.50496 mgQE/g extract. The ethyl acetate fraction of F. fragrans fruits has moderate antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 357.148 mg/L. The fractions were further analyzed using LC-MS. The structure and fragmentation pattern of 9 compounds were identified from ehyl asetate fraction of F. fragrans fruit.
