Abstract

Monitoring of mangrove ecosystem regularly is necessary in order to know the condition and the changes of mangrove area in Enggano Island Bengkulu Utara Regency Bengkulu Province. The purpose of this study was to analyze the distribution, density and the changes of mangrove area in Enggano Island, during 2010-2015. This study was conducted from Januari to April 2016 using the SPOT 4 image data (2010) and SPOT 6 image data (2015). This study was conducted by using supervised method supported with field survey to improve the accuration. The results showed that the mangrove area decreased 5,42 ha during 2010-2015 periods. However, the middle mangrove density increased 5.06 Ha and good mangrove density increased 20.78 ha. The mangrove condition in Enggano Island was in a good category and Rhizophora apiculata was the most dominant species with the highest IVI (Important Value Index).
