Abstract

Organic waste that is processed into bokashi can help in overcoming the negative impacts of waste and is able to improve soil properties that have been damaged due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers. This research aims to; 1). Knowing the quality of organic waste bokashi seen from its maturity parameters, 2). Knowing its effect as a planting medium for basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum L.), coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) and celery (Apium graveolens L.) and 3). Knowing the effect compared to NPK fertilizer. The research was conducted from October 2021 to March 2022. Located at Win's Family Farm, Jl. New Hill Protection Tiger, Kec. West Ilir 1 Palembang, South Sumatra. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with 3 treatments and 6 repetitions. Parameters observed from making bokashi include; 1). temperature, 2). pH, 3). Color, 4). Texture, 5). Aroma, 6). Nutrient content, 7). germination index and 8). Microorganism total assay. Meanwhile, the parameters observed from plants include; 1). Plant height, 2). Number of leaves, 3). Leaf area and 4). root length. The data obtained will be analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and followed by a follow-up test for LSD at 5% level of 95% confidence if the treatment has a significant effect. The results showed that the bokashi planting medium had a significant effect on height, number of leaves, leaf area and root length, for basil and celery bokashi had a better effect than other treatments and for coriander NPK + soil it had a better effect than other treatments.
