Abstract

making a living to meet their daily needs. The background of this study aims to determine the background of market revitalization and to find out how the socio-economic conditions of market traders before and after traditional market revitalization. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study uses the theory of social change from Kingsley Davis. Data obtained through in-depth interviews with 11 informants and data obtained through observation and documentation. The research results show that the background of market revitalization is (1) government regulations and (2) community economic recovery and market conditions. For the socio-economic conditions of market traders, it was found that there were changes related to the socio-economic conditions of market traders before and after the revitalization of traditional markets as indicated by (1) decreased income and fulfillment of needs, (2) freedom of trade zoning, and (3) decreased number of buyers.
