Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul Perkembangan Surat Kabar Sriwijaya Post di Kota Palembang Pada Tahun 1987-2000. Permasalahan yang diangkat oleh penulis adalah bagaimana perkembangan surat kabar Sriwijaya Post atau masyarakat lebih mengenal dengan sebutan Sripo menjadi salah satu media lokal terbesar di Kota Palembang. Sripo pada saat saat itu menjadi media lokal dengan kualitas cetak yang bagus dengan konten – konten berita lokal yang menarik oleh pembaca di Kota Palembang. Sripo bukan hanya tersebar di Kota Palembang saja, melainkan ke Provinsi Lampung, Jambi, dan Bengkulu pada saat itu. Sripo juga pada saat itu menjadi media lokal yang menggunakan teknologi mutakhir pada zamannya seperti komputer dan faksimil yang dimanfaatkan sangat baik. Meskipun pernah terjadi konflik, Sripo tetap mencetak korak dengan berita – berita lokal yang menarik. Walaupun pada akhirnya harus tutup karena konfliknya yang semakin panjang. Pada saat dibuka kembali, Sripo berusaha merebut kembali reputasi mereka sebagai media lokal terbaik di Sumatera Selatan secara perlahan. Sripo pun menjadi media lokal yang mengimplentasikan berita online pada saat itu, dan juga tidak ketinggalan memberitakan konflik nasional seperti aksi mahasiswa tahun 1998.
