Abstract

This study described about the improvement of Social Science learning achievement through the use of the Media Pop Up Book on fifth grade pupils of SD Negeri 157 Palembang. The design of this research was classroom action research which applied two cycles. Each cycle consisted of the stages which were planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were fifth grade pupils of SD Negeri 157 Palembang amounted to 29 students who consisted of 13 male students and 16 female students. Data were collected with written test techniques, observation and documentation. The results of the study on the implementation of Cycle I showed that the student learning achievement was 53,45 %. In cycle II, the results of the study for students learning achievement in Cycle II was 84,48 %. The results of student learning activities in Cycle I was 71,55 which these data were categorized active. In Cycle II achieved 87.07 which these data were categorized very active. These data indicate that by using Media Pop Up Book, there is an improvement in learning achievement on the subjects of Social Sciences fifth grade pupils of SD Negeri 157 Palembang.
