Abstract
Major constraints dealt with acid soils, such Ultisols, low P availability and high Al and Fe solubility, therefore plants grwon in such soils most likely reveal P deficiency as well as Al and Fe toxicity symptoms. Current research aims to study the influence of organic matter, lime, population of phosphate solubilizing bacteri (PSB) on soil P fractions and corn growth planted on dryland Ultisols. This research has been conducted at SoilChemical, Biological and Fertility Laboratory and Green House, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University based upon Simple Completely Randomized Design. The treatments tested are: 1. Without ameliorants, 2. Twice original population of soil PSB, 3. 10 tons of organic matter per ha, 4. 2xAlexch. Equivalent of lime, 5. Combination of PSB and organic matter, 6. Combination of PSB and Lime, 7. Combination of organic matter and lime, and 8. Combination of PSB, Organic Matter, and Lime. The results of current experiment showed that organic matter as a single factor gave the best effect on soil P and corn growth. Combination of organic matter and lime gave the best influence on soil available P and corn growth. Inooculation of PSB has not effectively increased soil available P and corn growth.
