Abstract
PT Bukit Asam, Tbk Tarahan Port Unit is a company which engages marketing of coal, both import and export, that located in Tarahan area, Bandar Lampung City. Improper stockpile management will affect the spontaneous combustion events that will cause changes in the value of coal quality. The cause of spontaneous combustion on stockpile 4 CY2 AL is caused by a buildup process that has been more than 5 months duration, where the recommendation for the accumulation of coal is 4 weeks duration, grain size is not uniform and relatively small at 4-6 cm. The height of the stockpile also reaches 18 m, where the recommended height is 15 m. Changes in coal quality occurring at the time of coal experienced the following spontaneous combustion events for MT 46 type coal having an increase of TM value of 0.49%, IM increment by 0.05%, increase of Ash by 1.79%, decrease of VM value by 1, 2%, FC decline by 0.02%, total sulfur decrease of 0.09%, and caloric value decrease of 60 kcal / kg. BB 50 types of coal experienced a decrease in TM value by 0.96%, IM decrease by 1.47%, Ash value increased by 1.56%, increased VM by 0.87%, FC decline by 0.96%, decrease total sulfur of 0.03%, and a decrease in caloric value of 86 kcal / kg. Things that can be done to prevent spontaneous combustion in the stockpile 4 area Tarahan Port Unit is to apply the design of the ideal pile area design and according to its allotment, which is shaped like a lime with a length of 313 m, width 100 m, height 15 m, and angle of repose of 35o, implementing FIFO system, as well as conducting periodic compaction and temperature monitoring. The existence of stack temperature monitoring and with the recommended geometry design of this stockpile 4 area can accommodate coal of 283,640.44 tonnes.
