Abstract

The Musi estuary is one of the places used by the community as a shipping channel, waste disposal and human activities so that it can affect the growth of plankton. The purpose of this research were to analyze the plankton abundance and diversity values, analyze the relationship of abundance and plankton diversity, and analyze the relationship of abundance and plankton diversity with aquatic parameters. This research was conducted in November-December 2018, sampling and sample measurements were carried out on 9 different stations taken vertically at a depth of 2 meters, for measurement of water-physico-chemical parameters including temperature, salinity, pH, DO, current, brightness, depth, nitrate and phosphate. The association of plankton abundance and diversity using Pearson correlation analysis while to determine the relationship between plankton abundance and diversity with physico-chemical parameters using PCA analysis. Phytoplankton abundance and diversity values are 814-3885 cells/l and 0.83-1.69, while zooplankton abundance and diversity values range between 1-72 Ind/l and 0.64-1.39. Based on the Pearson correlation analysis, the relationship between phytoplankton abundance and zooplankton abundance does not have a significant and uncorrelated relationship, the relationship of phytoplankton diversity with zooplankton diversity also has no significant relationship but has a weak correlation, zooplankton abundance has no significant relationship and zooplankton abundance has a significant correlation. strong, while the relationship between the abundance of phytoplankton with zooplankton diversity has a relationship that is not significant and has no correlation but has a positive or direct relationship. Based on PCA (Principal Component Analysis) analysis to determine the relationship between plankton abundance and diversity with water physics-chemical parameters, it was found that the parameters that had more influence on the abundance and diversity of phytoplankton with zooplankton were temperature, pH, DO, depth, brightness and phosphate.
