Abstract

Bus driver has a risk expected by one of the physical factors in the environment of work was vibration produced by vehicle machines. Vibration that produced by vehicle machines for mechanical vibration called whole body vibration. Exposure to whole body vibration that exceeds the threshold value and continue could to be at risk of low back pain. Vibration transmission to the driver through the legs and buttocks when sitting or support place on the back of the seat. The prevalence of low back pain on drivers in indonesia reached 55%. This study used a quantitative approach with cross sectional study design. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling technique. Whole body vibration measurements and interviews were conducted to bus drivers of Unsri Indralaya students. Data analysis techniques were univariate and bivariate using fisher exact test. Then, the data was presented in the table and narrative form to interpret the data. The results of the study was 93.02% had exposure values for whole body vibration > NAB (1.7322 m/sec2) based on Permenaker RI No 5 in year 2018, respondents who experienced complaints of low back pain were 88.3% . Based on bivariate analysis which related to complaints of low back pain was exposure value of whole body vibration > NAB (1.7322 m / sec2) with p-value = 0.019 and work time ≥ 5 years with p-value = 0.000. In Conclusion was the whole body vibration exposure value > NAB (1.7322 m/sec2) affecting with complaints of Low back pain on bus drivers. As well as seats on the bus drivers given additional bearing in the part that have a circular < 300mm, doing care in vehicle machines through periodicly, and doing muscle stretches first before and after driving.
