Abstract

The death of Mahsa Amini who died after being detained by the moral police has angered the world community. World community demand justice for Mahsa Amini who died because of the rules that considered too binding in Iran. This thing encourages the world community to demand freedom of women in Iran and finally there is a movement called Woman Life Freedom. This social movement developed rapidly to various parts of the world with the same goal namely the freedom of women in Iran with hope women in that country can get better life and able to express their self optimally. This research aims to explain the efforts of Woman Life Freedom in upholding the freedom of women in Iran and see what the impact of the efforts that Woman Life Freedom has done and how effective the effort is. This Research uses social movement concept to explain how Woman Life Freedom can move across national boundaries. The researcher uses three elements by Meyer and Staggenborg to look at the strategies used by Woman Life Freedom in achieving their goals, namely demand, arena, and tactic. In this research, research method that used by researcher is the qualitative method. The result of this research shows that Woman Life Freedom has developed into social movement that widespread into various parts of the world with the same goal, namely the freedom of women in Iran. In achieving their goal, this movement doing protests as a form of demand for freedom of women in Iran and determined the Iranian government as the arena of demand. With the demand and arena, Woman Life Freedom is able to take the right tactic done offline and online, starting from doing protests to make some petitions. Woman Life Freedom widespread across national boundaries parts of the world make more people aware of the women situation in Iran and more people who participated in showing support for women in Iran.
