Abstract

This research was conducted in order to know the effect of soil solarization and biocontrol agent (Trichoderma and Penicillium) and their combination in suppressing Rhizoctonia damping off on chili. The experiment was conducted in pot experiment. The treatment of soil solarization used in this experiment was modified by heating the soil with sunlight; the soil was placed in plastic box and covered with transparent plastic and exposed to the sunlight for 2 weeks and 4 weeks separately. Results showed that all treatments with soil solarization and biocontrol agent (Trichoderma and Penicillium) and their combination effectively-moderately reduced pre-emergence damping-off, post-emergence damping-off, and disease severity of Rhizoctonia damping off on chilli. The use of Trichoderma and Penicillium with soil solarization then challenged with R. Solani has improve disease suppression compare their single treatment both by biocontrol agents or soil solarization only. The combination of soil solarization and biocontrol agent provide the percentage of disease severity suppression ranged from 53.51%-82.04%, While, single treatment with soil solarization only reduced the percentage of disease severity was ranged 51,68%-60,36% and biocontrol agent only provide disease reduction was ranged from 40,23%-47,86%.
