Abstract

The experiment about antagonistic activity of Trichoderma spp. isolated from swampy soil to Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn caused damping off to chilli in vitro was conducted in Phytopathological Laboratory, Departement of Plant Pests and Diseases Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The objective of the research was to know the ability of antagonistic activity of Trichoderma spp. isolated from chili rizosphere and non rizosphere located in swampy soil against Rhizoctonia solani in vitro. Eighteen isolates of Trichoderma spp. was isolated and tested in this study. The results showed that isolates of Trichoderma spp. had a various ability in inhibiting the growth of R. solani. In water agar medium test, the isolates from chili rizosphere and non rizosphere provided percentage inhibition range from 36,97%-80,21% and 41,96%-91,97% respectively. While in Potato dextrose agar medium test, They provided percentage inhibition range from 26,41%-58,40% and 22,71-61,58% respectively. The Isolates Trichoderma spp. were also capable to parasitize R. solani through coiling, penetrating and causing lysis of hyhal R. solani.
