Abstract

Heat Transfer Analysis Of Vacuum Dryer With Hot Water Energy Source Silvia Lina1, Haisen Hower2, Ari Hayati2 Program Studi Teknik Pertanian Jurusan Teknologi Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya, Jl. Raya Palembang – Prabumulih KM 32 Indralaya, Ogan Ilir Telp. (0711) 580664 Fax. (0711) 480279 ABSTRACT This research was conducted at the Biosystem Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Sriwijaya University, from July 2018 until December 2018. This research was aimed to study the heat transfer analysis, temperature distribution and energy requirement of vacuum dryer with hot water energy source. This study used the experiment method. Data were presented in the form of tables and graphs. Drying was done with three temperature variations, namely 30 oC, 35 oC and 40 oC. The results showed that the closer to the well drying chamber the higher temperature, vice versa. The fluid flow rate (hot water) of the vacuum dryer was 0,19 m3 / s. The heat required to raise the water temperature at room temperature to 30 oC (Q) was 78939 kJ with the rate of energy demand of 1.87 kJ/s. The temperature of 35 oC (Q) was 76133 kJ with the energy demand rate (Ǭ) of 2.35 kJ/s and to the temperature of 40 oC (Q) was 39644 kJ with the rate of (Ǭ) of 3.67 kJ/s. The drying rate at 30 oC, 35 oC and 40 oC were 5.93%, 7.80% and 22.11%, respectively. The drying and heating efficiency at 30 oC were 16% and 2 %, at 35 oC at 35 oC ware 50% and 3% and at 40 oC were 63.17% and 9%. Keywords: Vacuum drying, Temperature Distribution, Heat.
