Abstract

To repair the motor due to damage to the capacitor is to replace the capacitor with the same capacitance. But the problem is, not all required capacitors are available in the market so capacitors are selected with close capacitance values. Therefore. it is necessary to do research in the form of an analysis of the effect of changes in the capacitor value to the current and starling time of the I phase induction motor. From this study obtained the value of the start current, nominal and starting time of each capacitor. When the 9 pF capacitor is obtained the start current is 3.69 Amper, nominal currenJ is 1.32 Amper and the starting time is 0. 75 seconds. When the 8 μF capacitor is obtained the start current is 3. 77 Amper, nominal current is 1.35 Amper and the starting time is 0.81 secondv. When the JO μF capacitor is obtained the start current is 3.84 Amper, the nominal current is 1.33 Amper and the starting time is 0.68 seconds. When the 5 μF capacitor is oblained 4 Amper start c1irrent, 1.54 Amper nominal current and l second starting time. When the 12 μF capacitor was obtained 3.92 Amper start current, 1.42 Amper nominal current and 0.62 second starling time. From these results it can be seen that the change in the capacitor value will cause a greater current and starting time to increase if the capacitor value is enlarged This will cause damage and interference to the motor, so that the exact capacitor value is 9 μF.
