Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the performance of theHatching Incubator with Automatic Egg Rotator Roller Type System. The research has been conducted from November 2017 until Februari 2018 at Laboratory of Energy and Electrification, Department of Agricultural Tec hnology,Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya and Sungai Putat Highway, Sungai Selincah Village, Kalidoni Sub-distrik, Palembang. This research consists of four stages, preparation of incubator, preparation of hatching egg, Operation of incubator and incubator testing. The eggs used in this study were arab chicken eggs. The incubator used is made of solid wood with a thickness of 1.5 cm with a heat source four units of 10 W incandescent bulb, a surface area of the egg rack 0,085 m2, a capacity ofincubator 16 eggs. The turning of eggs is done every three hours in 24 hours. The observed parameters include temperature, humidity, power requirements, energy efficiency, power induced from wall of incubator, fertility and hatchability. The results showed that the lowest incubator temperature was 38.29 ° C and the highest temperature was 38.92 ° C. The highest incubator humidity was 69.42% and the lowest humidity was 54.04%. The need for incubator energy for 21 days based on the long operation of the 5789,44Wh appliance, the energy based on the measurement results using acpowermeter 3289 Wh, Incubator energy efficiency is 56,81 %. The heat in the incubator is based on the calculation of 5029,32 W and the heat that is conductive through the incubator wall is 412,68 W, The hatchability of eggs is 92.85%.
