Abstract

The fastest growing HIV epidemic in ASEAN region is found in male sex with male (MSM) and transgender population. By 2015 the number of new HIV cases in 6 provinces in Java reached 16,776 cases and in Bali Island reached 2,028 cases. Compare with Sumatera, Kalimantan has 4.245 and 1.428 cases, and Sulawesi, Maluku with 1.769 cases, the HIV prevalences in Java and Bali are the bigger than other island. The prevalence of HIV increasing because of inconsistency condom use. The purpose of this research is to know the correlates of consistency condom use with prevalence of HIVAIDS among male sex with male (MSM) in Java and Bali. This study uses secondary data sourced from Integrated Biological and Behavior Survey (IBBS) in 2015 using cross sectional research design. The number of study population is 1.496 respondents, after cleaning data obtained 880 respondents which can analyzed by multivariate logistic regression of risk factor. Multivariate analysis showed that consistent condom have P-value (0,044<0,05), that means have significant correlates between consistency condom use with HIV prevalences after controlling drug use and risk perception among MSM in Java and Bali 2015. The results of a multivariate analysis showed a significant association between the condom consistency variable and HIV prevalence, the inconsistent MSM respondents who used condoms during sex had p-value=0.73 (0.55-0-0991) lower chance of becoming infected with HIV than those who consistently used condoms after controlled by risk perception variables and drug use among MSM in Java and Bali in 2015. However, differential misclassification biases in this study may also result in underestimate evidence, resulting in a weak or protective correlation. The consistent and correct use of condoms on risky sexual intercourse should be more actively promoted by health professionals by not forgetting the principle of abstinensia and be faithful.
