Abstract

The agricultural sector is the majority of the population of Indonesia and one of them is coffee, coffee Janner. This study examines the problem of how the economic condition of fanners, farmers' economic actions that describe the actions of rationality on farmers. This research is descriptive analysis that is research which describes circumstances a phenomenon which is depicted with words or sentences separated by katagorinya to get conclusion, with purpose to make description, picture systematically, factual and accurate about facts every relation about economic condition, economic action, and effort outside the agricultural sector by coffee fanners in Padang Bindu Village Pasemah Keruh Keruh District Empat Lawang District. Data collection was done by observation, in-depth interview to infonnant and researcher using interview guidance. The results showed that coffee farmers in Padang Bindu Village Pasemah Keruh Keruh District Empat Lawang District have done actions and decisions based on Rationality. Farmers help each other in subsistence conditions and farmers have thought rationally. Every action is done on the basis of rationality, farmers have thought about the profit and loss of every decision made. Although the level of education of farmers is low, but farmers recognize that education is important and strive to provide good education for their children. Children are an investment in the fature, besides farmers also invest in land, ca/lie and other personal property
