Abstract

Electricity modern era emphasizes reliability in service has become the most preferred. The reliability of the electrical system is influenced by many factors, one of which is the isolation system that acts as part of the safety system. The technology and insulation materials continue to be developed in an effort to obtain insulation materials with optimal reliability and economic costs. One of the polymer-based insulation that is widely used and continues to be developed is Low Destiny Polyethyelene (LPDE). The advantage of LDPE polymer types is that the manufacturing process is easy, is flexible for a variety of applications, and has a small dielectric constant value so that the electrical properties are better. This research began by studying literature in the form of scientific articles and scientific papers. Then, design a 3D electrode system using the sketch up application. Next, make samples and electrode systems and proceed with testing data retrieval. From the result, a decline in the value of breakdown voltage (VBD) due to higher humidity values were used. Humidity of 28.7% (silica gel) produces the highest VBD value when compared with other uses of moisture. While the humidity of 82.8% (Sukrosa) produces the lowest VBD value.
