Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) to identify land conversion rate in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, (2) to identify the impact of land conversion of rice production trends in 2017-2022 in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, (3) to analyze the factors which affect the land conversion of rice field at paddy farmers level in Cahaya Negeri Village Semendawai Suku III District East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, and (4) to compare the income of paddy farming to rubber farming in Cahaya Negeri Village Semendawai Suku III District East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. This research was conducted in Cahaya Negeri Village Semendawai Suku III District East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in December 2017. The research method used is survey method and historical method by using time series data. The sampling method used is proportioned stratified random sampling, the sample was taken from the population of farmer who did the land conversion of rice fields (rice and rubber farmers) of 15 samples and they who did not do the land conversion of rice fields (rice farmers) of 17 samples so the total number of samples were 32 samples. The data collected in this research was primary and secondary data. The result of the research shows that: (1) conversion from rice field to nonrice field in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency tends to increase from 2007 to 2015, (2) the rice production trends in 2017-2022 in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency keeps increasing for the coming year, (3) the factors that significantly influence the decision of farmers samples in Cahaya Negeri Village in conducting the land conversion are land area of farmers and farmers' income, and (4) there is a significant difference between the income of farmers who did not do the land conversion of rice fields (rice farmers) and the income of farmers who did the land conversion of rice fields (rice and rubber farmers) with the income difference of Rp.10.715.047/ha/yr in Cahaya Negeri Village.
