Abstract

Introduction breast carcinoma is one of the most common breast malignancy in women. The clinicopathological characteristics of these cancer are varied and have important role as prognostic factor. Recently, Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL), reported as lymphocyte inflammatory cell density, has become a prognostic factor. Many study showed that TIL is associated with better prognosis, especially CD8+ T lymphocyte. The purpose of this study is to determine the association of lymphocyte inflammatory cell density with clinicopathological characteristics of breast carcinoma. Methods This study was analytic observational with cross sectional design. Data were obtained by evaluating lymphocyte inflammatory cell density from 38 hematoxylin and eosin (HE) based on International TILs Working Group 2014 recommendation and from medical records for clinicopathological characteristics then analyzed with Chi-square test. Results Majority of the patients had low lymphocyte inflammatory cell density (84,2%), with stage III (65,8%), and grade III (52,6%) breast carcinoma. Luminal B and basal-like were the most common molecular subtype. There was no association of lymphocyte inflammatory cell density with clinical stage (p value = 0,309), histopathological grade (p value = 1), and molecular subtype (p value = 0,281). Conclusion There is no association of lymphocyte inflammatory cell density with clinicopathological characteristics of breast carcinoma.
