Abstract

Forest and land fires are a serious problem that Indonesia has to face almost every year during the dry season. The occurrence of forest and land fires has resulted in such a large impact, both from the danger to health, the environment and the economy. The purpose of the study was to identify the risk analysis process for occupational safety and health on peatland firefighters in South Sumatra. This research was conducted with a descriptive research design with a qualitative approach. The selection of informants for this study was carried out by purposive sampling with 6 key informants and 2 supporting informants. The research sample is the employees of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in South Sumatra. Data collection techniques from this research use interview and document review methods. Data analysis in this study uses processing techniques and risk analysis sourced from British Standard 8800:2004. The results of the risk assessment of this study there are three categories of risk levels, namely Low Risk, High Risk, and Very High Risk. Low risk levels include static movement. The high risk level includes misinformation. Very high risk levels include attacks by crocodiles and snakes, exposure to high temperatures, and dehydration. The results of this study are expected to be material for increasing awareness of the dangers of peatland fires in South Sumatra.
