Abstract

Stunting is a global nutritional problem including Indonesian. Based on the RISKESDAS in period 2018 prevalance of stunting among children under five years and children under two years decreased to 30,8% and 29,9%. This illustrates that stunting in Indonesian is still a public health problem. One of the factors that influence stunting is LBW. The purpose of the study was to determine the risk of LBW to the incidence of stunting in children under two years in Indonesian. This study used a cross sectional design and used data from IFLS in 2014.The sampling method used multistage random sampling.The population was all babies born alive in Indonesian and the samples used were all infants aged 0-23 months. Data were analyzed using complex sample. In bivariate analysis used chi-square test and multivariate analysis used logistic regression test. The The prevalence of stunting in infants under two years is 24.8%. The prevalence of LBW is 6.4%. The results there was a relationship between LBW and stunting. Children under two years who had LBW 1,6 times at risk for stunting compared with those who had normal birth weight after being controlled by breastfeeding, maternal height, ANC visits and area of residence variables (PR adj=1,6; 95%CI=1,3-2,1). LBW has a risk in the incidence of stunting which is also influenced by other factors. This shows that stunting is caused by multi causal. Therefore the need for multi-sectoral coordination to prevent stunting starts from improving adolescent nutrition to achieve optimal nutritional intake to prepare optimal nutrition for up to 1000 first day of life of children and attention to access utilization of health services during pregnancy.
