Abstract
The development of an increasingly advanced industry causes agricultural land in Indonesia to become increasingly narrow. The solution for increasingly narrow agricultural land is by means of urban farming using hydroponic technology. The selection and design of channel cross sections in the NFT hydroponic system is one of the factors that must be considered because it affects the uniformity value in the NFT hydroponic system. This study aims to test performance of NFT hydroponic irrigation system for pakcoy plants with the best channel cross-sectional shape. This research was carried out from 14 January 2023 to 12 February 2023 at the Agricultural Engineering Study Program Plant House, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The research method used was design and field observation. The research parameters consisted of irrigation water uniformity, electrical conductivity uniformity, pH uniformity, and water flow thickness uniformity. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the trapezoidal channel cross-section is the best channel cross-sectional form in the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic irrigation system because it has values uniformity of electrical conductivity was 99,93%, uniformity of pH was 99,72%, and uniformity of water flow thickness was 97,93% which are greater than those of semicircular and cross-sectional channels box channel.
