Abstract

Eggs are one of the poultry foods that contain complete nutrients needed by the body and are easily digested such as fats, proteins, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. purpose of this study was to determine the effect of interaction between the addition of butyric acid and storage time to the quality of the egg production phase to III during storage. This research was conducted at Laying chicken coop at Candi Farm in Suka Makmur Village, Air Batu Village Sub District of Talang Kelapa, Banyuasin Regency. The study was conducted for 8 weeks from July to September 2017. This experiment was conducted by experimental method using Randomized Complete Random Factorial Design (RALF) consisting of 2 factors, namely factor A which has 4 treatment levels, namely R0 (control treatment) , R1 (addition of 0.175 g / kg of calcium butyrate in ration), R2 (addition of 0.350 g / kg of calcium butyrate in the ration) and R3 (Addition of 0.525 g / kg of calcium butyrate in the ration). Each replication or unit consists of 10 laying chickens. Factor B consists of 3 levels of storage duration, storage for 1 week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks. The observed variables include egg weight, albumin weight, yolk weight and haugh unit (HU). The results of this study indicate that the addition of butyric acid has no significant effect (P>0.05) on the decrease of egg weight, albumin weight, yolk weight and haugh unit (HU) value but significantly (P<0.05) egg white, yolk weight and Haugh Unit (HU) value during storage. So it can be concluded that there is no interaction between addition of butyric acid with storage time to quality of chicken egg production phase III and addition of butyric acid in ration does not affect egg quality of layer III production during storage.
