Abstract

MUHAMAD SOLEH, Production of Giant Gourami (Osphronemus gouramy) Using Probiotics from Swamp (Supervised by MARINI WIJAYANTI and MOHAMAD AMIN). Gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy) is a type of freshwater fish native to Indonesia which is quite widely cultivated. Therefore, a method or technology for gouramy cultivation is needed which is expected to be the right solution to increase gouramy production starting from increasing survival, growth, feed efficiency, and water quality. This study aims to determine and compare the production of gouramy using probiotics from swamps and without the addition of probiotics. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments given were (P1) rearing gourami with the addition of probiotics from swamp and (P2) without the addition of probiotics form swamp, with stocking densities of each pond 53 m-3 during the 42 day culture period. The results in this study showed that the best treatment was the P1 treatment with dissolved oxygen 5.60-7.47 mg L-1, ammonia 0.20-1.69 mg L-1, total dissolved solid 750.50-895.50 mg L-1, temperature 26.40-30.80 ºC, pH 6.60-7.61, floc volume 4.1 mL L-1, survival rate 81.13%, growth of absolute weight 11.64 g, growth of absolute lenght 4.64 cm, feed conversion ratio 1.67 and total production 1420.10 g. This research showed that the addition of probiotics from swamp to giant gourami cultivation media provides better that not addition probiotics, starting from survival, growth, feed conversion ratio, growth of floc volume, maintenance of water quality and total production of gouramy. Keywords: biofloc, gourami (Osphronemus gouramy), probiotics from swamp.
