Abstract

Tidal lowland area, especially in South Sumatra Province reached 2.92 million hectares and has the potential to be developed into agricultural land, given the increasing number of fertile land. However, there were constraints and problems in the ups and downs, especially in South Sumatra in the management of water and soil physical properties. The aims of this research were to know and compare the physical properties of soil covering soil color, hydraulic conductivity, groundwater depth, pyrite depth, fill weight, total pore space, and soil texture on some types of overflow at tidal swamp lowland of Tanjung Lago Subdistrict, which has a different type of overflow. This research was conducted at Tidal swamp land of Delta Telang II Tanjung Lago Subdistrict of Banyuasin District and soil analysis was conducted at Soil Physics and Soil Conservation Laboratory of Agriculture Sriwijaya University in Indralaya. The results showed that the texture of soil at all points of location included in clay texture class with the highest clay percentage in the type of overflow field D was 72.6%. The bulk density of the soil content in the type of overflow land B and C was greater than the bulk density of the soil contents on the type of overflow land A and D. The highest total soil pore value had found in the C flood type land of 74% in the soil depth of 0-20 cm. The highest value of the ground hydraulic conductivity had found in the overflow field D of 10.7 cm / h, the soil hydraulic conductivity value was influenced by soil texture, pore space and organic matter.
