Abstract

The Indonesian government is making serious efforts to improve Indonesia's defense industry in various ways. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Turkey have been officially opened since 1950. In 2010, President SBY had the opportunity to visit Turkey to conduct cooperation in the field of defense by being directly invited, namely cooperation in the manufacture of medium tanks. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method in which secondary data sources are obtained through the results of studies from books, documents and data officially and validly sourced from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia. The creation of this medium weight tank provides security for Indonesia's defense logistics in addition to increasing the accumulation of its strength through technological advantages and mobility capabilities. If evaluated from three characteristics, namely Defense Diplomacy for Defense Industry, Defense Diplomacy for Defense Capabilities, and Defense Diplomacy for Confidence Building Measures, defense cooperation between the two countries was also successful. This collaboration also certainly has a good impact on the cooperative relations between Indonesia and Turkey.
