Abstract

Swamp land has a very acid pH so that nutrients become unavailable to plants. Application of chicken manure and nitrogen fertilizer can be used to overcome problem of acid pH and nutrient deficiency. This research were to know influence chicken manure and nitrogen on growth and production paddy and N efficiency in swamp soil. This research was conducted in greenhouse, Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The study was conducted from August to December 2017. The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Design with five treatments: P0N0 (Control), P1N0 (Chicken manure), P1N1 (Chicken manure + 1 Urea dose), P1N2 (Chicken manure + ½ Urea dose), P1N3 (Chicken manure + ¾ Urea dose). The variables observed were plant height, maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers, 1000 grains weight, percentage of filled grain, percentage of empty grain, N soil, N efficiency calculation. The results showed recommended dosage chicken manure 20 tons ha-1 and on mixed with Nitrogen fertilizer 125 kg ha-1 were the best dosage to increasing growth of rice plant in swamp land. chicken manure 20 tons ha-1 and on mixed with Nitrogen fertilizer (250 kg ha-1) were the best combination in increase rice yield (7,22 tons ha-1) and combination of 125 kg ha-1 N and 30 tons ha-1 biochar was highest in increasing nitrogen efficiency 48.62%. from this research recommended to do conduct research with various dose fertilizer nitrogen and other organic fertilizer
