Abstract

Kegiatan penelitian yang dilakukan di Lintasan Sungai Batang Formasi Gumai Daerah Tihang dan sekitarnya bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi iklim purba dan lingkungan batimetri melalui analisis fosil foraminifera planktonik dan bentonik. Secara administratif penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Tihang dan sekitarnya, Kecamatan Sosoh Buay Rayap, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisis iklim purba dengan metode analisis kuantitatif dari setiap spesies foraminifera dan analisis lingkungan batimetri dengan metode fathom fossil serta rasio plankton/bentos. Lokasi penelitian terbagi menjadi sembilan lokasi dengan litologi batupasir karbonatan dan batulempung karbonatan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis paleontologi, diperoleh spesies foraminifera planktonik dengan genus Globigerinoides, Globiquadrina, dan Globorotalia yang menunjukkan sebagai spesies penciri iklim tropical – subtropical dengan kondisi hangat yang memiliki suhu air laut berkisar 17 – 14oC. Sedangkan, pada analisis lingkungan batimetri pada daerah penelitian diinterpretasikan bahwa lingkungan batimetri terletak di zona neritik berupa neritik tepi hingga neritik luar.
