Abstract
Transgender are a range group that has a high risk of STI and HIV transmission. This is due to the transgender sexual lifestyle which often changes sex partners, does not use condoms, and performs oral and anal intercourse in intercourse. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, prevention behavior, and social support on the incidence of STIs and HIV among waria in Palembang City. This research is included in the quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The research sample used was 55 people. Data analysis techniques were carried out using univariate, bivariate and multivariate methods. Presentation of data is done in the form of tables and narratives to interpret the results of the data that has been processed. The results showed that the p value for each variable was <0.002 for knowledge, <0.001 for attitude, 0.75 for preventive behavior, <0.035 for condom use, 0.233 for support among transgender people, and <0.001 for support from health workers. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the relationship between the incidence of STIs and HIV in transgender women in Palembang City was related to knowledge, attitudes, use of condoms, and support from health workers. Based on multivariate analysis, it was found that the most influential factor was the support of health workers (0.001). Suggestions in this study are that in serving STI risk groups, health workers should be more proactive, empathetic in providing understanding, counseling about reproductive health through interpersonal communication to STI risk groups.
