Abstract
The polyculture system is an aquaculture system that combines two or more types of fish in one rearing container. Fish rearing can also be integrated with plants or vegetables, known as aquaponics systems. Determining the stocking density and selected fish to be kept in polyculture is essential. This study aims to determine the best stocking density of climbing perch cultivated in polyculture with nile tilapia in an aquaponic system. This research was conducted in December 2022 – February 2023. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications. The treatments used were different stocking densities of climbing perch and nile tilapia stocked at the same amount. The treatments are the rearing of climbing perch 30 fish m-2 and nile tilapia 25 fish m-2 (P1), climbing perch 40 fish m-2 and nile tilapia fish 25 fish m-2 (P2), and climbing perch 50 fish m-2 and nile tilapia 25 fish m-2 (P3). The results of the analysis of variance show that polyculture of climbing perch and nile tilapia fish with different stocking densities for climbing perch in aquaponic cultivation systems using lettuce plants has a significant effect on the percentage growth and survival of climbing perch and nile tilapia fish, but has no significant effect on the growth of lettuce. The result of this study indicated that climbing perch 50 fish m-2 and nile tilapia fish 25 fish m-2 (P3) is the best stocking density that produces the survival rate of climbing perch was 82.67%, absolute length was 0.70 cm, absolute weight growth of was 0.76 g, feed efficiency of climbing perch was 24.92%. In contrast, the survival rate of nile tilapia was 87.18%, the absolute length was 0.11 cm, and the fish's weight growth was 0.21 g. The lettuce plant's weight growth of 7.41 g, the height of 2.19 cm, and the number of leaves add two strands. Water quality values during the study were temperature 25.00 - 28.60 °C, pH 7.09 - 7.70, dissolved oxygen 5.11 - 5.75 mg L-1, ammonia 0.01-0.36 mg L-1 and nitrate 0.03 - 1.73 mg L-1. Key words: aquaponic, climbing perch, nile tilapia, polyculture, stocking density
