Abstract

This research aims to determine the correlation between science learning outcomes and the results of scientific literacy contests th 2018 with scientific reasoning abilities. The research subjects were participants in scientific literacy contests. This type of research is quantitative descriptive with the correlation method. This study collected data by means of test questions in the form of scientific reasoning, questionnaire data in the form of questions that are used to find additional information related to scientific reasoning of students, documentation, in the form of science learning outcomes, and the results of scientific literacy contest results. The results showed that science learning outcomes seen from report cards as a whole were categorized as very good. While the scientific reasoning scale of students in the South Sumatra Middle School science literacy th 2018 contest 3 students are categorized as formal level (high level), 9 students are categorized as transition (moderate) and 3 students are categorized as concrete (low). While the results of the average spreadability of the ability of scientific reasoning skills of South Sumatra Middle School students the highest level of 73.3%, namely students have been able to work on the problem of reasoning by connecting an event. The results showed a correlation between learning outcomes with scientific reasoning abilities of 0.2848, which means having a low correlation with a low category and the results of the correlation between the results of scientific literacy contest results with scientific reasoning ability of 0.842, which means with a very strong category.
