Abstract

Bulk fill resin composite is a composite resin developed to minimize shrinkage during polymerization, can be filled to a depth of 4 mm and have lower value of microleakage than conventional composite resins. Bonding agent is an element that takes an important role in the ability to avoid microleakage restoration. The purpose of this research is to know the difference of microleakage of class V composite restoration using seventh (G-Bond, GC) and eighth (Futurabond DC, Voco) generation bonding agent. This study was a quasi experimental study with a total sample of 32 maxillary premolar teeth were prepared by class V cavity. Samples were divided into two groups of bonding agents, group 1 using the seventh generation and group 2 using the eighth generation. Samples were stored in an incubator at 37ºC for 24 hours, then manual thermocycling was performed at 5ºC and 55ºC. The sample was immersed in a 1% methylene blue solution. Teeth cut with separating disc. Microleakage is measured using a Digital USB Microscope in 100x magnification. The mean results of the microleakage measurement showed in group 1 and 2 were 2.0225 mm and 1.2144 mm respectively. Data analyzed using independent t test showed that there were significant differences between the two groups in the seventh generation and the eighth generation (p <0.05). The conclusion of this research is there is a difference in microleakage of class V composite bulk fill between the seventh generation bonding agent and the eighth generation bonding agent.
