Abstract

HAIDIR,Rumen Protozoa Quantity and Methane Concentration After Ruinofras In Situ Supplementation (Guided by Mr.ARFAN ABRAR) The rumen is one of the digestive organs that has a major influence on the productivity of ruminants because in the rumen there are rumen microbes that play a role in the breakdown of crude fiber than other nutrients. Protozoa in the rumen consist of ciliated and flagellated protozoa, however, ciliated protozoa are far more dominant in number and role when compared to flagellated ones. Protoza is one of the benchmarks for the development of methanogenic bacteria in the rumen to produce methane gas. however, the high and low levels of methane gas can also be affected by the supplementation of certain materials such as NPN ruminofrass which can affect methane gas production. Based on the explanation above, the aim of this study was to determine the quantitation of rumen protozoa and methane gas concentrations after in situ ruminofrass supplementation. The location of this research was carried out in the Experimental Cage, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in March 2023 to. May 2023. The method used in this study uses a T-test at a significant level of 5%. Based on the results of the study, the rumen protozoa population after the addition of Ruminofrass NPN increased and the rumen protozoa population was higher after the addition of Ruminofrass NPN. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the addition of ruminofrass NPN to the rumen was able to increase protozoa populations and reduce methane gas concentrations. Kata Kunci : gas metana, in situ, NPN ruminofrass, Protozoa
