Abstract
Introduction: Glial tumors are tumors that originate from glial cells of the central nervous system. These tumors are aggressive and it is one of the leading causes of death from cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the clinicopathological characteristics of glial tumor patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2019-2022. Method: This study is a descriptive study. Samples were collected using secondary data based on the patient's medical record and taken by total sampling technique that is all samples obtained and meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the study. Results: Glial tumor patients in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang mostly found at the age of 31-40 years (23.8%), male gender (55.6%), and came from Palembang area (36.5%). The most common tumor grading classification was grade II (36.5%) and glioblastoma was the histological majority (23.8%). The most common tumor location was the temporal lobe of the brain (15.9%) and the tumor size was ≥3 cm (58.7%). Most of the glial tumor patients did not experience any local recurrence (74.6%). Glial tumor patients mostly received total resection surgery (66.7%) and did not received any postoperative chemo-radiation treatment (71.4%). Conclusion: Glial tumor patients in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang mostly found at the age of 31-40 years, male gender, came from Palembang. The tumor is most commonly found in the temporal lobe of the brain, tumor size ≥3 cm, with grade II classification, and glioblastoma as the histopathology type. Glial tumor patients mostly received total resection surgery, did not received any postoperative chemo-radiation treatment, and did not experience any local recurrence.
