Abstract
Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that causes the highest mortality. Hypertension cases in KayuAgung Subdistrict in 2021 were 15,678 cases and Kutaraya Health Center dominated the cases with 9,576 cases. Hypertension disease complications are prone to occur in the elderly, so it requires long-term treatment and its success is influenced by many factors. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the elderly in efforts to control hypertension in the Kutaraya Health Center working area, KayuAgung District. This research is a quantitative study using a cross sectional design and utilizing Accidental sampling technique for a total sample data of 74 respondents. Univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test is the statistical analysis used in this study. The results of the univariate test, 52 respondents (56.1%) had a good level of hypertension control efforts. While the results of the bivariate test obtained results if the p-value on the variable knowledge (0.011), attitude (0.010), family support (0.044), the role of health workers (0.002), and access to health services (0.014) <0.05, meaning there is a relationship with the variable efforts to control hypertension. While the education variable with a p-value (1.000) means that there is no relationship with hypertension control efforts. The conclusion of the study is that the factors that influence efforts to control hypertension in the elderly in the Kutaraya Health Center working area are factors of knowledge, attitudes, family support, the role of health workers and access to health services. It is expected that health workers optimize the Prolanis program such as routine gymnastics and elderly group education with leaflets, posters or videos, then form a hypertension elderly group (self help group) including social activities among fellow elderly in overcoming their illness, and collaborate with physiotherapists in providing exercise therapy education for the elderly and family.
