Abstract

Abortion was a major cause of maternal mortality. Complications posed after abortion were bleeding, perforation, infection and shock. In Indonesia, recently abortion was not reported as abortion cases but rather as bleeding cases. It is because the handling of abortion cases is done by overcoming the bleeding that may result in maternal death. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting abortion in Indonesia. This study was used a cross sectional design study and secondary data of the Indonesian Family Life Survey 2014. Samples in this study was 6.395 grieved women who have been married between age 15-49 years residing in Indonesia from 13 provinces eligible to IFLS 2014 respondents who meets inclusion. Data analysis was done by univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with chi-square test and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression test. The results showed that age, parity, employment status, economic status, history of chronic disease, abortion history, smoking status and residence areas were associated with abortion. The most dominant factor with abortion is age with the largest PRadjusted value of 2.8. Abortion has caused by age <20 years or > 35 years, multiparent parity status, occupational employment status, low economic status, history of abortion, history of chronic disease, smoking, and four living in rural areas. Researchers to provide health services for CIE (Communication, Information and Education) for the community for gestational age. Recommandation to the sociaty was to have pre-pregnancy consultation to health personnel.
