Abstract

The research is to produce a chemical question based higher order thinking skills which valid, reliable and to determine the difficult levels and the differentiating power item. This development research uses the test development model of Mc.Intire which seven stages namely, 1) Defining the test universe, audience, and purpose, 2) Developing a test plan, 3) Composing the test items, 4) Writing the administration instructions, 5) Conduct piloting test, 6) Conduct item analysis, 7) Revising the test. The results of expert validation of the material aspects is 0.88 (very feasible), construct validation is 0.94 (very feasible), and language validation is 1.00 (very feasible). The results showed that the questions based higher order thinking skill amounted to 18 questions of material aspects, constructs and language declared are valid and very feasible to use. The chemical matter has a reliability value of 0.31 (low), the average validity of item is 0.56 (enough), the average difficulty level of the grains is 0.40 (medium) and the average power of differentiator is 0.40 (very good). From this research, can be concluded that of these 18 question based higher order thinking skills, 14 questions can be used without revision, 1 question is used with revision and 3 quetions removed.
