Abstract

LINDA WULANDARI. The Dye Sensitized Solar Cell With The Extract of Watercress (Ipomoea aquatic F.) Leaves As Photosensitizer (Supervised by TAMRIN LATIEF and FILLI PRATAMA). The objective of this research was to determine the performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) by using extract of watercress leaves as photosensitizer on various light intensity and thickness of TiO2 paste. The research was conducted from October 2017 until December 2017 at the Laboratory of Chemistry of Agricultural Product, and Laboratory of Energy and Electrification, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. This research consisted of three stages: preparation of DSCC structure, arrangement and assembly of DSSC sandwich, and performance analysis. The thickness of TiO2 based on the layer of masking tape were 0.124 mm, 0.247 mm, 0.494 mm, 0.371 mm, and 0.618 mm with some variation of the light intensity were 445.7 W/m2, 205.4 W/m2, and 100.8 W/m2. The parameters observed were spectral absorbance of dye extracted from Watercress leaves, the characteristics of current and voltage (I-V), power, fill factor and efficiency of DSSC. The analysis of absorbance in dye from watercress leaves showed that the peak of maximum absorbance at wavelength of 640 was 0.876. The analysis of electrical characteristic showed that DSSC with thicknesss of TiO2 paste 0.494 mm at the 445.7 W/m2 light intensity gave the best performance with Voc, Isc, Vmax, Imax, Pmax,, FF, and efficiency of 389 mV; 0.043 mA; 0.030 mV; 160.5 mA; 4.767 mW; 0.254 dan 0.022 %., respectively. DSSC with with thicknesss of TiO2 paste 0.124 mm at the 100.8 W/m2 light intensity showed the lowest performance with Voc, Isc, Vmax, Imax, Pmax,, FF and efficiency 42.5 mV; 0.014 mA; 30.9 mV; 0.008 mA; 0.256 mW; 0.434 dan 0.007 %, respectively.
