Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the various doses of Nitrogen and Potassium fertilizers on the growth and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.). This research was conducted on October 2017 until December 2017 in Experiment Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera. This research used Randomized Complete Block Design with 2 factors those were first factor was N fertilizer and second factor was K fertilizer. The N fertilizer consists of 4 levels, namely (100 kg ha-1, 150 kg ha-1, 200 kg ha-1, and 250 kg ha-1) and K fertilizer of 4 levels, namely (50 kg ha-1, 100 kg ha-1, 150 kg ha-1, 200 kg ha-1) and repeated 3 replication, so that 48 units of experiments were obtained. Each experiment consists of 3 plants so that the total number of plants as many as 144 plants. The results of this study showed that the combination of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers did not affect the growth response and yield of shallot. Although the combination of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers had no effect on the growth and shallot yield, correlation analysis of each observed variables showed the relationship between one variables with other variables. The correlation analysis between plant height and number of leaves, number of sprout and number of tubers showed a positive correlation. The correlation analysis between the number of leaves with the number of sprout, the fresh weight of the whole tuber, and the overall dry tuber weight showed a positive correlation. Fresh weight tuber analysis of fresh weight tuber and overall dry tuber weight showed a positive correlation where as overall fresh weight of tubers with dry weight tuber showed positive correlation. Fresh weight correlation analysis tuber with dry weight tuber showed positive correlation. An analysis of the overall dry tuber weight with dry weight per tuber indicate a positive correlation. The best result of the treatment of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers was obtained in the treatment of nitrogen fertilizer 150 kg ha-1 and potassium 200 kg KCl ha-1 (N2K4)
