Abstract
PT. Timah (Persero) unit Metalurgi process and refme tin ore. Not only tin ore, but also process the valuable associated minerals, one of them is Ilmenit (FeTiOj). Associated minerals is processed in Amang Plant, “Bidang Pengolahan Mineral” (BPM). Ilmenit is a paramagnetic mineral, so that to separate it from the other minerals the high current is required to obtain the strong magnetic intensity. Magnetic Separator used at Amang Plant is Induced Roli Magnetic Separator (IRMS). The currents that too high can lead impurities magnetic mineral also attracted by the roller so that weight percent of mineral ilmenit decreased. Feed processed using IRMS was product of conductor High Tension Separator (HTRS). The research used feed by grade of mineral ilmenit 64,88 %, water content 0 %, and mineral in feed undersize 20 # 98,94 %. Based on the research, increasing of current 10 to 15 Ampere result in increasing recovery mineral ilmenit attained 88,90 % at currents 15 Ampere because higher magnet intensity to attained mineral ilmenit. The optimum setting of current in this research to produce ilmenit high grade (>90%) was 14 Ampere that could produce ilmenit by 175,95 Kg per hour.
