Abstract

Tapered composite plate girder is a component of flexure structure which composed of various plate elements and combined with reinforced concrete slab deck, giving the result of a new cross section greater than usual. This study focuses on the construction of Light Rail Train Bridge at Musi River in Palembang. The study analyzes the performances of structure, also the deflection and the stress of structure using SAP2000 software with finite element method. The analysis results in the maximum deflection: 68.7mm for the span P7-P8, 92.6mm for the span P6-P7, 70.4mm for the span P5-P6, 106.9mm for the span P4-P5, 66.1mm for the span P3-P4, 89.4 for the span P2-P3, and 73.8mm for the span P1-P2. These deflections are caused by the combination of U1 loading which have the component of dead load with load factor 1.4 and vehicle load added with impact load has load factor 2.33. The analysis of maximum stress results 92.834MPa (service condition) and 187.035MPa (ultimate condition) in the center of span P4-P5, whereas for the bearing of P5 results 149.931MPa (service condition) and 249.209MPa (ultimate condition). With the results given, it can be concluded that the structure has a great performance. The deflections occur without exceed the allowable deflection requirement of L/700 (based on PM.60 of the year 2012), while the maximum stresses are still below the limit of allowable stress 306MPa with structural steel grade is 360MPa.
