Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the influence of motivation, commitment, and competence toward the performance of high school economics teachers in Palembang. The writer used the descriptive quantitative method with linear regression analysis model and analysis technique used was a likert scale. The Population were high school economics teachers both public and private teachers in Palembang. The samples (160 teachers and 93 schools) were taken by using proportional stratified random sampling technique in which the writer selected the economics teachers of senior high school based on school level of accreditations. To get the data, the writer used quesionnaire as an instrument. Based on linier regression analysis, the result of this research showed that the partial coeficient of motivation (X1) on the performance of teachers (Y) was 0,701. Commitment (X2) on the performance of teachers (Y) was 0,818, and competence (X3) on the performance of teachers (Y) was 0,810. These results described that motivation, commitment and competence variables had influenced perfomances of the teachers. In addition, the results of simultaneous linear regression analysis coefficient value amount to 0,911, has showed that the three independent variables has a very strong positive influence, on the dependent variables. Correlation of motivation variable toward the performance of teachers showed a strong positive influence, while the commitment variable and competence variable had a very strong positive influence. Based on the concluded that all variable had significance value 0,000 < 0,05, it could be concluded that all variables partially or simultaneously had influenced the significance toward the performance of the teachers. The contribution of the independent variables, dominantly influenced the performance of the teachers where the commitnent was 66,91%. The result of classical assumption showed that the regression analysis arranged did not meet the multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity. This means that if the data were added, the bigger mistakes (residual) would not exist
