Abstract

Background: Vesicobullous lesions are bullous skin diseases that contain clear fluid and are found on the young epithelial layer, rupture and cause ulcers and can be life-threatening. The disease occurs in individuals across different age groups. The main clinical features are blisters and ulcers on the skin and mucous membranes, which develop into erosions on the skin or mucosal surfaces after rupture. pathogenesis bullous skin disease can be divided into autoimmune and non-autoimmune bullous skin disease. In autoimmune bullous skin disease, pathogenic autoantibodies can be detected in both circulation and skin lesions, while genetic factors play a more important role in the pathogenesis of non-immune bullous skin disease. The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics and histopathology of vesicobullous lesions at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital during 2019-2021. Methods: This study was conducted using descriptive observational method with cross sectional design using secondary data in the form of medical records of patients with vesicobulosa lesions at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. There were 48 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data obtained in the form of secondary data in the form of gender, age, occupation, location of ulcers and histopathological description of vesicobullous lesions. Each data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 27th edition software. Conclusion: The distribution of patients with vesicobullous lesions was found to be mostly female as many as 25 female cases (52.1%) with the most age obtained by patients with middle adulthood, namely age ≥56 years as many as 18 samples (37.5%). Occupational data as many as 32 samples (66.7%) were found to have the most status with other occupations, followed by farm work as many as 6 samples (12.5%). The histopathological features of vesicobullous lesions were mostly pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigoid bullous conditions with 14 samples each (29.2%) with the location of ulcers in patients mostly found in the subepidermal as many as 21 samples (43.8%).
