Abstract

Thishhresearch aims tok determine themeffectOof various natural inhibitors (Polyphenol, Geraniol, and Flavanoid) against inhibition of sprouting in canna rhizomes (Canna edullis Ker). This research was carried out from December 2018 to March 2019 in the shadow house at the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a completely randomized design method with 5 treatments, namely I0 (control), I1 (Cymbopogon citratus. 10%), I2 (Cymbopogon citratus. 20%), I3 (Cosmos caudatus Kunth 10%), I4 (Cosmos caudatus Kunth. 20%), I5 (Vinea rosea 10%), dan I6 (Vinea rosea 20%), and 4 replications obtaining 28 units treatment. Each unit treatment consists of 4 plants which total up to 112 plants. Based on the results, natural inhibitors (Polyphenol, Geraniol, and Flavanoid) not significant on the inhibition of sprouting growth, rhizome weight, plants height, and number of leaves. Even though tabulation of the best treatment is found in I1 treatment (Cymbopogon citratus 10%) for inhibiting sprouting and decreasing rhizome weight.
