Abstract

Region of the Banyuasin River and the Musi River Estuary are semi-closed water areas located on the east coast of South Sumatra and are influenced by the tides. The surface temperature of the waters be influenced by several factors including solar heat, surface currents, cloud conditions, upwelling and several meteorological factors such as rainfall, evaporation, air humidity, air temperature, wind speed and solar radiation intensity. Seasonal factors are also one of the factors that can affect the value of surface water temperature. One method that can be used to determine the distribution of surface temperature in a waters is by using the remote sensing method. The use of remote sensing technology that is by utilizing satellite recordings produced in the form of images. One image that can be used to determine sea surface temperature is Landsat-8 imagery. This research was conducted in October-November 2018 in Banyuasin waters with the aim of analyzing of changes in surface temperature spatially and temporally in the Banyuasin River Estuary and Musi River Estuary. in 2013-2018. The results showed that the surface temperature value of the Musi River Estuary had a distribution of 28.39-30.260C and the Banyuasin River Estuary had a distribution value of surface temperature of 29.9-30.560C. Variations in surface water temperature in the Banyuasin River Estuary and Musi River Estuary temporally very small, which is <20C.
