Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement in learning outcomes of third grade students on theme 3 and sub-theme 1 “Perubahan Wujud Benda” in SD Negeri 16 Kumbang Banyuasin using the demonstration method. The used research technique was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 2 cycles of action. The techniques pf data collection were test techniques and observations with research subjects, namely third grade students at SD Negeri 16 Air Kumbang Banyuasin totaling 28 students consisting of 9 male students and 19 female students. From the results of the study obtained student learning outcomes. Based on the research results obtained data that the learning outcomes of students has increased in each cycle result. In the first cycle the completeness of learning outcomes of students only gained a percentage of 50% with an average value of 64.28 and in the second cycle increased to 89.28 % with the average value obtained by students, namely 81. The completeness and success are also supported by observations of the activeness of students that have increased, in the first cycle the results of observations of activeness of students were obtained with a percentage of 53.13% in the fairly active category , and in the second cycle the results of observation of the activity of students increased to 81% in the very active category. So it can be concluded that the application of demonstration methods can improve student learning outcomes and increase the activity of students in participating in teaching and learning activities.
