Abstract

Chlorophyll-a is an active pigment in phytoplankton which can be used as an indicator of the water fertility. Remote sensing method have been applied to measure chlorophyll-a concentration with four algorithms analysis, namely Pentury, Torbick, Wouthuyzen dan Wibowo algorithms. In situ data collection was carried out on December, 20th – 21st 2018 which covering 9 stations. The purpose of this study was to analyze the best algorithm for estimating in the part of the East Coast Waters, Koba District. Based on the regression model, Pentury algorithm was the most effective in estimating chlorophyll-a in the area with 0.7687 of R2 value. Chlorophyll-a map was created for part of East Coast Waters using this model Log Chl-a = – (4967,17714166237x3) + (12443,6020631692x2) – (10352,9090414017x) – (2861,83041186967). Chlorophyll-a concentration in the west and esast monsoon included in category of oligotrophic to mesotrophic that is revolving around 0.05-3.03 mg/m3 and for the east monsoon is revolving around 0.29-2.61 mg/m3. The surroundings factor that influences the distributions of chlorophyll-a is current speed and direction, water transparency and dissolved oxygen.
