Abstract

The need for corn in Indonesia is increasing every year, so the need for intensification and extensification isrequired, unfortunately this can cause residual effect on the soil. The main aim of this study was to examine the effect of fertilizer and lime on some of the soil chemical properties in tidal land on post-harvest corn plants. This research was conducted from September to December 2018 on the tidal land in Mulia Sari Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency. The method of design used was factorial randomized block design (RCBD) consisting of 2 factors that were tested. Factor 1 was fertilizer with specific location based on actual chemical properties and fertilizer recommendation from the Agriculture Research and Development Agency of South Sumatra. Whereas for factor 2, the dosage of lime with a dose of 1,932 tons ha-1, 3,864 tons ha-1, and 5,796 tons ha-1 each treatment was repeated 3 times so that we obtained 18 plots. The results of this study indicate that the application of fertilizer and lime on corn cultivation can reduce soil pH and N-total, but the highest lime dose of 5.796 tons ha-1 can increase soil pH by 0.05 units. The application of fertilizer and lime on corn cultivation can also increase C-organic as much as 2.22%, P-available as much as 13.95 mg kg-1, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) as much as 1.42 cmol(+) kg-1, K-dd of 0.98 cmol(+) kg-1, Ca-dd of 0.55 cmol(+) kg-1, Mg-dd of 0.46 cmol(+) kg-1, while the Al-dd value increased at the lime dose of 1,932 tons ha-1 and 3,864 tons ha-1, however decreased by 0.36 cmol(+) kg-1 in lime dose of 5.796 tons ha-1. This research shows that applying fertilizer and lime to post-harvest corn plants can improve some soil chemical properties.
